DVD cover art for the Japanese release of "Boyne Falls," aka "Survival Forest"

I don't remember the giant explosion on set, nor is that the upper peninsula's Tahquamenon Falls, but I dig it.  Translation: "Survival Forest: Escape from an illegal organization that is hiding deep in the mountains.  Gotta decide to live!"  Ain't that the truth.

"Dirty Energy" Michigan Premiere

"Dirty Energy," winner of the Santa Barbara Fund for Social Justice award at the 2012 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, comes home to Detroit on Thursday March 8th as part of the Uptown Film Festival - 8:30 PM at the Birmingham 8.  Tickets available in advance at http://uptownfilmfestival.com/
Directed by Bryan D. Hopkins, Sound Design by David Fineup, Music by Steve Sholtes

http://www.dirtyenergymovie.com/

On April 20th, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded off the Gulf of Mexico taking the lives of 11 workers and sank as millions of barrels of oil poured into the ocean creating one of the worst environmental disasters in history. Dirty Energy tells the personal story of those directly affected by the spill who now struggle to rebuild their lives amidst the economic devastation and long-term health risks. A story too often glossed over by the mainstream media and ignored by those sent to Washington to represent the will of the people, not the corporations.

The fate of the Gulf region and its inhabitants is largely unknown. The systematic failures of BP and the Federal Government to properly confront this environmental calamity with honesty and integrity have had powerful consequences. Sadly the human cost has been greatly underestimated and hidden from the public. Still today, the people of the Gulf are fighting to preserve their endangered way of life. This is their story.

Wearing maize and blue, glee club members Mary Wilhelm ('14), Brandon Cory ('13), and Justin Lu ('14) fearlessly execute Operation: Hail. Raise your fist and cheer for Blue as you watch this crazy, courageous display of Wolverine pride.

A "My Friend Peter" demo

I think I said somewhere that if the Kickstarter seed money campaign for the feature length version of "My Friend Peter" reached its goal I'd upload one of the demos we've been whipping up for the movie. Here's one we did relatively quickly in anticipation of a recent pitch meeting. No monkey to be found on this one, but Loretta Lucas' lovely vocals make up for it. Oh, and there's still 20 minutes! left to donate to the cause!  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1296564086/my-friend-peter-the-featur

The title of the film refers to the legendary Nain Rouge, or Red Dwarf of Detroit. This mythic figure has been a part of Michgian lore for more than 400 years and is said to be a harbinger of doom for the Motor City. Every year on the first day of spring Detroiters participate in the Marche du Nain Rouge, where they burn an effigy of the demon spirit in an effort to drive him away from the city.

NAIN ROUGE is a short film by director Jasmine Rivera as part of the requirements for completing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing at Columbia University. Shot in Detroit in the fall of 2010 with a cast and crew comprised entirely of Michigan-based professionals, the film showcases the city's world-class filmmaking talent. Herzog on Fresh Air

Finally.  A 3D film I'm interested in seeing.  And I bet Werner didn't even blow anything up.

I could listen to this guy talk about art and film for hours.
